A Poem from One Who's Been There |
by Susan Ficht |
Abortion . . . . insidious . . . .
after it destroys a precious life, it eats away at the soul of a broken women.
It promised freedom, relief . . . . instead it bound her life
to buried pain and unspoken grief.
But, if you were to sit next to her in church or pass her on the street,
you would never know by looking at her the secret that she keeps.
Her denial has been perfected. . . . she lives with numbness that surrounds her,
it protects her from feeling, becomes a prison wall.
The only escape is through a door called grief,
she is terrified and feels so guilty
. . . . what right does she have to grieve, what she chose not to keep?
Someday she will find the courage to walk through that door and
embrace her grief . . . when she does an amazing thing will take place.
Through that open door she will see the Lord . . . His loving,
forgiving arms will be reaching out to her . . .
ready to walk with her back into the light.
He cries with her and gently holds her until she feels peace.
He loves her beyond belief.
He understands she is weak
He wants to heal her and make her whole . . . .
if she will just let go,
and like the prodigal . . . . come back home
