For some reason, men just love to eat. But when you combine food with spiritually challenging and encouraging teaching, a men’s worship band that sings men’s songs in men’s keys, and when you offer men opportunities for discipleship and service—the combination works.
MEN’S BIBLE STUDIES
2 Timothy 2:15 presents every man of God with the challenge to “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” One way to take up the challenge is to check out our weekly men’s bible study offered every Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
BAND OF BROTHERS
We begin every Thursday morning by gathering at the fireplace to pray at 6:00 am where it’s not unusual to rub shoulders with 30 to 50 men. By 7:00 am there are 60+ men grabbing coffee and donuts and getting ready for a 20-minute challenging talk that hits men’s issues and discipleship head-on, followed by 20 minutes of discussions with the men at your table. The morning ends with a discipleship challenge for the week and it’s off to work (or not) by 8:00 am.
MEN’S MONDAY MORNING PRAYER
Men’s Prayer is offered every Monday morning from 6-7am as a jumpstart for the week, ending early enough for men to get to work on time.
Let’s face it. Guys have been going to retreats for years. Here’s the formula: It’s an extended church service that you have to drive two or three hours to get to with a bit of recreation and enough fatty food and carbs to help you gain 10 pounds. The question is, if Jesus was planning a men’s retreat, he might approach things a little differently than we do:
Perhaps He would put a great deal of care and effort into calling, organizing and preparing his men before the retreat.
He might use parables, object lessons and challenges to the status quo to galvanize his men into teams during the retreat.
And maybe… just maybe…He would deploy these teams to do real ministry after the retreat.
This year our annual retreat is going to focus on intentional discipleship training and deployment of men for discipleship in the home, the marketplace, the church, and the community–along with a little recreation, fatty food, and carbs. (Well, you can’t have everything!)
SERVICE TO WIDOWS AND SINGLE MOMS
We offer the New Commandment ministry which serves widows and single moms. It’s a two-hour commitment on a Saturday morning once a month. Trust us; you’ll get more out of it than you put in. It’s an amazing ministry.
One of our Cornerstone Men 318 discipleship opportunities is called The Journey. Small groups of men band together to go on a journey of intimacy with Christ. The goal is the transformation of man’s personal abiding relationship with Christ. More than 10,000 men have experienced The Journey in journey groups across America.
